My father will be having double bypass and surgery to unblock his caratid( sp?) artery on Monday. He has had three heart attacks in the past year, one on my parents 50th wedding anniversary, one on my moms bday and most recent the day my sister had her first baby. The doctors have not done anything until now because he is at very high risk, he is diabetic with kidney function at about 10 %. They thought the dye they use in the heart cath would destroy his kidneys, well this time they had no choice and by the grace of God his kidneys have been about the same. He is also anemic and has a lot of fluid in his lungs. The cardiologist is doing a different type of surgery called a beating heart surgery, it is less risky than with a heart lung machine. The doctors have been very honest with my parents and told them that he may survive the surgery, but he may not recover or if he does it will be a very long recovery. This is such a hard time for my family , my father is a stubborn man and has not taken care of his health, his weight is out of control and I fear it may be too late, but we arent ready to say good bye yet.
