View Full Version : Calling all Cinderellas- the T20s is starting our very own pact!

Well Ladies- we all remember being little girls and dreaming big about who we would become and what we would do when we grew up. This pact is going to help all of us work towards realizing our dreams. Believe it, Be it! We are worth the work it takes to feel, look and be beautiful ~the beautiful women we always dreamed we would be. (Admit it, none of us ever dreamed we would grow up to feel ugly, be fat and lazy... right) So here we come, let's realize our potential together.
~whoever signs up has to do it for 6 months... we will all stick with it, and at the end of six months, if we want to we can quit. (the point being hopefully we will all have seen a huge transformation by then) Six months from today is March 24, 2007. Think of something you can do on that day that you couldn't have done today! Share what you want to do on that day!
~Find a picture of yourself when you were a little girl, one where you are having fun/smiling, laughing/carefree.... look at how you were, tape that picture to your bathroom mirror and every morning, look at it. Have big dreams for yourself like that little girl (the one who always had great dreams of what she was going to be.)
~Believe it~ Be it! Maybe that means more exercise, swedish skin care, bingeing less..... Or maybe it just means you are worth being treated like royalty!
~"Act like Cinderella. Trill while you do the dishes. Invite birds to sit on your fingers, chipmunks to nestle in the folds of your skirts. Do not mind that the neighbors have called your relatives, expressing concern. Pity them for they know not that you are a woman of noble birth kept captive among the commoners."
This Pact has been born from the book "The Cinderella Pact" by Sarah Strohmeyer. It is now the first book the T20s book club will be reading!

I am definitely in. I love everything about this idea! I'm getting SO excited just thinking about all of us banding together to promise ourselves we'll become those women we always dreamed of being! I love you girls! Anni, thanks for getting this started. Can we get this stickied to keep right in front of our noses?
On March 24, I will be able to run a 5K for sure, but I also hope to have better skin and prettier hair, and just to be a better person. I want to take this time to do more than look better. I want to really invest in myself during these six months and make the improvements I've been "meaning" to make for years... I will make out a list for myself of those things and will probably share with my Cinderella sisters later on! :buddysmoo
Believe it...be it! Definitely!

Oh, this is awesome! As for goals, I am competing in a triathlon on April 21st. I'm so excited about that and it is something I would have never considered for myself a year ago. It will make me feel strong, capable and maybe even beautiful on a level far above external beauty.
On a personal note, I am an artist and I haven't painted professionally in a year (I broke a finger and I was in a cast, blah, blah, blah) and I plan to take on some commission work and complete at least a few paintings in the next 6 months. I'm excited about that and it's definitely time to go back to work.
I want to get this book this week and get started reading it. It sounds great.

Further, in accordance with that initial goal I want to be wearing a size 8 or 9 and be running a 5k in 30-35 minutes. By then I would like be able to sit and put my feet up on a chair (knees touching chest), wrap my arms around my legs (i know, sounds complicated and uncomfortable) and be able to hold that position without my belly making it impossible (like it does now)...souds silly, I KNOW! but I always envy girls that can do that...cause they look SSSOOO comfortable (and don't have big a belly that gets in the way)! *I WON'T DO THIS AT WORK...JUST WITH FRIENDS, AT HOME, LOUNGING AROUND.* Good luck!!!!! we can do it girls!!!!!

On March 24th, 2007.... I'm going to be able to jog an hour on the treadmill. For awhile now.. I have had no patience whatsoever to do any form of jogging. This will be my 6 month goal! Work on my patience! Jogging is a great form of cardio exercise and I'm missing out on it!
I am also going to work on improving my outer shell by looking like the woman I always wanted to be, but could not bc of my weight. I will continue exploring the wonderful world of cosmetics, clothes, etc!
And hopefully by March 24th, I'll also be in some sort of relationship http://healthdiscovery.net/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Ooooh count me in! On March 24 I plan to fit in a size 8 and most importantly I plan to be in better health both mentally and physically by paying more attention to the way I eat and the amount of exercise I get. Also I plan to better my self-esteem and to stop comparing my success to others and to think more highly of myself. By March 24 I will be in tip top shape mentally, physcally, and spiritually. I'm checking Cinderella out this evening. Thanks for making this post.

My mother had mainly brothers and had NO clue how to do her oldest child's (that would be me) hair. I used to have two ridiculous afro puffs, one on each side of my head. OMG I looked like a clown. AND I'd like to be able to buy a pair of jeans off the rack from a "normal" store...preferrably The Gap! I LOVE their jeans, but I just can't wear them yet!!! Hopefully in 6 months, I'll be able to, and look SEXY doing it!!!

I'm COMPLETELY in on this. I simply adore this idea!
1. Have a "Normal" BMI (That would be 159lbs for me at most).
2. Be able to run 30 minutes without stopping.
3. Become more routine with my relationship with God (praying, meditation, being a "better" person).
4. Have a job & apartment.
5. Be more sophisticated (read 10 FICTIONAL books, stay current with the news everyday, be a better listener & act more like Audrey Hepburn and less like Carol Burnett)

To run a 5k
To be more organized
To follow through with the things I start
To have built a healthy relationship with the guy I'm dating

Great idea, I'm in!
In 6 months:
I will be able to run a 7-7.5 minute mile for a half marathon (13.1 miles).
I will have maintained a 66 pound weight loss for 6 months.
I will have reduced my body fat percentage by 5%. (Yesterday I got some test results back and found out
it is quite high! grrrr).
I will be finished with the final draft of my thesis.

I've never been able to do this and I always associated it with being grown-up (girls cross their legs at the ankles, women cross them at the knees).
I've realized how much harder it is skating now vs when i was 16.. mostly is because of the weight! When I did an ice show last spring I was 10lbs from goal... everything was going so smoothly and I was starting to land double axels and triple salchows again.. but here I am again back to square one.. now when I am fighting temptation.. I say "hey do you want your jumps to be hard on you at skating again??" then I stay OP 100%! For my Senior FS I need 2 double/double combos & 4 different double jumps.. its really going to kick my butt in the shape I am in now haha.
Goodluck! Which double are you working on? I know how frustrating it can be trust me!

I can't wait to read the book. I have read a lot of books that are similar to the way this sounds and I always want to acomplish all the main character does. This time I'm going to make it happen!
My goals for March are
1) Feel better about my body
2) To be in the 160s or less.
3) Fit a size 12 or less.
I'll post a picture of a little me soon. I am at home on my reading week so I'll do it when I back back to university on Monday :D
I think this thread is a great idea! I'm really excited about it :)

2)to be at my goal weight of 125.

I was kind of hesitant to join this thread. I dunno why. WHen i was a little kid, i didnt want to be a princess, i wanted to be wonder woman (hahaha). I guess i was never a real delicate, pink-is-my-favorite-color type of girl. But i was very innocent for a long time and i had a great childhood for the most part, so i can relate to that end of the story.
By April 24th:
~i will be hopefully have started the peds icu internship.
~i'd like to be at ppgw...
i dont know what else....i have to think about it.
OMG, these little girl pics are so freaking adorable!!!! here's mine:

Iris that pic is hysterical cuz you don't look impressed with yourself at all!
In April I will have my sorority Alumnae formal and I want to be able to wear a little black dress - and I want the black dress to ACTUALLY be LITTLE!
(I also wouldn't mind causing a few jaws to drop since there will be people there I only see once a year)
But I also truely want to feel like Cinderella, light on my feet, pretty, and princess like.

Oh my goodness! April is right! Sorry Ladies, I didn't mean to start us out thinking March 24th... but we are all aiming for April 24th!
Melia- have you started readin yet?
Jodes and Allison- I am so glad you really like the book! I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did!;)

Iris that pic is hysterical cuz you don't look impressed with yourself at all! Nooope! I have a pus on my face...HAHAHHA..I have a very queen-ly "eww-the-peasants-stink" look (hahhhaha, that's actually exactly what someone said last night in the chat room). Dressing up as a queen was probably NOT my idea. Unless there was a competition involved, in which case, i would have wanted to win regardless of what the end result was...LOL.

I am just now reading through these posts but I already know I'm definitely in. I will read the book this weekend. I used to dream SO BIG as a little girl. I was so confident in myself...that is one thing I remember. I always wanted the best parts in plays...I loved performing (for anyone and everyone)..singing, dancing, acting, etc. I *loved* having my picture taken, posing, dressing up. For some reason around age 8-9 I became really shy. I know this sounds really silly, but I wish I had the confidence and enthusiasm of my younger-younger self. I don't have any of my pictures, but when I can I will post one.
So my goals for 6 months (?):
-Be at my goal weight with habits that will allow me to maintain for my lifetime
-Be ready to move on to my next professional job with confidence in myself and my abilities
-Be back into running long distances
That's all I can think of for now. Will get back to more later.

I've just made my way back to BCB, I took some time to re-evaluate myself and where my life was going but I'm ready to come back now. I saw this thread and just HAD to jump in!
By April 24th....
1. I will be at my goal weight (150)
2. I will have taken my first professional pictures with my son (either in March or April)
3. I will finish my class and pass my test and be listed as a nurses aide so I can apply for nursing school
4. My son will have turned 2 the month before and I will have just turned 24 a few days before, and I will be finally ready to dust myself off and go back out in the world and open myself up to the idea of a prince charming (bad experience with my sons father, made me anti-guy for awhile)
5. I will be more in-tune to my spirituality and will have hopefully settled into it to the point where I can feel comofrtable to finally initiate myself into my "religion"

Well, I am about 1/2way through the book. It is definitely holding my interest even though it is not the kind of book I typically read. I love the idea about the pact, but at this point in the book it hasn't really been emphasized yet. Thanks for the recommendation!
How are we going to do this Cinderella Pact? Are we going to keep this thread going or have periodic updates? A weekly thread?
Has everyone bought a tiara? I have one at my parents' house. I need to bring it back here with me!

I am in!
My goals for March 24th ~
- GOAL!
I have lost about 1/2 the total weight I'd like to lose in the span of 3.5 months, so I think it's reasonable to say I can lose the second 1/2 in 6 months, even considering my rate of loss will slow as I get closer to goal.
- Complete Couch to 5k - and enroll in my first 5k race.
I had started and was doing well, but gave up due to cold weather. Even if I don't start again until late January when the cold spells let up and the days are starting to get longer, I should be able to make it in time. I may join a gym once the Christmas (aka budget breaking) season has passed to insure this happens, cold weather or not. Even if the actual 5k is after March 24th, I want to enroll if it's open, or at least have it chosen if there is not one close enough to this date.
- Quit smoking!
I'd quit, and now I'm sort of socially smoking at work and when I go out for drinks, but I know if I am not careful this 'social' habit will quickly slip back into the real thing. I need to not be afraid to kick it once and for all.
I saw this thread several times before deciding to commit. I haven't been the best BCBer in the world, but I'm ready to rock and roll, and do this thing the right way like I started.
And a perspective goal:
Listen to the song quoted in my signature (Sister Hazel - "Change Your Mind")every day if I have to to remind myself why I'm doing this!

I'm so sad I'm done that I might just have to re-read it!!! That book was fabulous. I want to meet the author!!! (Not to mention the fact that I'd love nothing more than to be Nola. Seriously.)
I can't wait to be Cinderella!!! April, here I come!!! :strong: (Yes, my Cinderella has muscles!)

I hadn't really been planning on joining this..... but after I wrote what I said on the "Think Back..." thread about feeling myself shrinking, I realized that I really should. I need it.
So I'm a little behind you guys, and I don't have a picture of myself yet, and I haven't read the book, but oh well.
On April 24th:
I will be < 140lbs.
I will be working out regularly.
I will feel ready to perform on stage as a bellydancer again.
I will have one killer outfit for the theater, that I will wear to the opera and dinner with my parents.
I will thoroughly enjoy the time leading up to my 28th birthday, knowing that I've become closer to who I want to be.
