I am a lifetime WWer who was just found out I have breast cancer at age 35. It runs in the family so I have to do genetic testing next week. On November 1st, I will be having surgery to remove one side. Then chemo, after chemo then i will have the other removed and both reconstructed.

You will be in my thoughts. My mother had breast cancer; she has been cancer free since 1995. It is not an easy road but with positive attitude and thoughts your prayers will be answered. Don't give up and remember to talk to those who support you.

The latest update! Get those Mammos ladies!!!!!
It’s been a while since we’ve sent an update on Jennifer, so here is the latest.
At the end of December Jennifer completed her first round of AC chemo, which was once every other week for 8 weeks. It was pretty harsh, causing her to be nauseated and tired for several days after. She’s tough and bravely continued to work as much as she was able. Her hair started falling out in chunks two weeks after her first chemo session, and now it is gone completely. She’s received a variety of wigs through family, friends, and the American Cancer Society. She continues to look fabulous whether she’s a blonde, redhead, or even bald for the day.
Jennifer has transitioned into her second round of chemo, which involves Taxol once a week for 12 weeks. Now two weeks into this regimen, she seems to be tolerating it better than the AC, but the effects of Taxol are reported to be cumulative so her symptoms may progress as she continues with it. So far it leaves her tired and with cold-like symptoms, but she has far less nausea. With the Taxol, she now also receives a weekly infusion of the Herceptin drug which will continue once every three weeks for one year starting in April.
Jennifer is thinking beyond her ordeal and, true to her fighting spirit, is interested in becoming a delegate for the Lance Armstrong Foundation to lobby Congress to restore funding for cancer research. She would definitely be very effective in this role!
Everyone’s continued thoughts, prayers, and support really do give her strength to keep going. She is very touched by everyone’s love and support.

Jennifer-
I am so sorry that you are having to go through this! Especially at such a young age! A girlfriend of mine was diagnosed in her early 30's with breast cancer. That was over 5 years ago.She is now doing great. Her "new" hair grew back curly and she looks beautiful! Keep Hoping!
My daughter Brittany was diagnosed at 7 with a brain tumor. She was given a poor prognosis. She went through Chemo for 18 months between 2000 and 2002.
She did well for 6 years. She is now 13 and just in October had brain surgery to remove the tumor again because it came back. Now she has recovered and is once again with the help of God doing well.
I feel so sad when I hear of people dealing with cancer. It's not fair!
Have faith in God....He will see you through!

Jenn,
My DH was diagnosed with Leukemia from being exposed to Agent Orange when he served in Vietnam. It is ironic how this experience has helped us to enjoy life even more and appreciate every moment. My prayers are with you.
Love,
Marla

As an 11 yr survivor, I want to say if I can do it so can you. I admire your attitude. A girl has gotta do what a girls gotta do. I did chemo bone marrow transplant and radiation and 5 yrs of Tamoxifen. No surgery because it was a 1 cm tumor, but a nasty little bugger that tried to get past lymph node # 16. But it said "no way am I letting you get past me" !!!!! I just did every thing offered because I didn't want to say I wished I had.\
I read that women that attend support groups live 35% longer. I still attend monthly. I also have stayed active in the b/c community. Y-Me (started in the YWCA) is a great sourse for info and support and is looking for volunteers. Komen is also a wealth of information too, and also needs voluteers.
Keep us posted :bcb_bravo
