My old computer crashed. I got it to at least function to transfer files to the new computer. It was 5 years old and I had Mastercook 8 on it with all of my cookbooks. How do I transfer them to the laptop? I tried exporting them and that was sent to my e-mail in jibberash. I tried saving them to a cd and when I tried to read them to import them it said there were no Mastercook files. PLEASE HELP! ! ! ! I have A LOT of files to transfer. Any assistance is appreciated! Both are operating with Windows XP

Did you install MC 8 on your new computer?
Which files did you transfer? I think the cookbooks are in .mc2 files
Mine are all in C:\Program Files\MasterCook 8

Yes, I did install 8 on my new computer, although I should be receiving 9 anyday now. The files are a cookbook I created for my own files. I thought the export and send should work. I must be trying to pick them up incorrectly. Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by export and send. Is that a function in MC?
I would try just going to your Windows Explorer and searching for all the .mc2 files then save them to a CD or flash drive if you can and copy them into your MC directory on your new computer.

Yes, Export and Mail is a command in Mastercook. But since that didn't work I am going to try what you suggested. I have compiled all these recipes in Mastercook and Word. My Word file is at the proof stage and then is ready to be submitted to be published into a cookbook. So you can see why I am anxious to get my files. Ah, times like these you learn the purpose of a good back up!
