I am new to posting on this thread, so please have patience. Our meeting was on bites, licks and tastes. What an eye-opener for so many of the members. Our leader had made lists of very small bites and how many points they actually were. I never knew that coffee creamer had so many points. I never drink my coffee black, but I am definitely going to cut down on the creamer. I never accounted for those points. She also mentioned the licking of the peanut butter knife and around the top of the jar. Once again, points I never accounted for. Or the little bites of ice cream from my DH. I have been in WW for 3 years and have never accounted for those bites. She also asked if any of the members weight loss has slowed down...got us all thinking about those BLT's. Did you have the same topic? Did it open your eyes to un-accounted for points?

We had the same meeting. Very interesting. I have always tried to be careful about those things, but that meeting sure did make a person stop and think.
When making a cake, do you lick the beaters?? Or when measuring peanut butter, do you put a little more in the measuring spoon?? Or when you clean off the table after dinner and the kids left a few french fries on their plate, do you eat them so you aren't wasting them?? Making cookies??...did you eat just a tiny bit of the dough?? All those calories add up.

That was our topic this week to but I missed the meeting and barely made it in time to WI...she did hand me a ziploc bag with BLT written on it and said we were to write down every BLT we took this week for next week's meeting. YIKES! Made me think twice about BLTs.

What a great idea! a ziplock bag with BLT written on it! That is a great one and I am going to do that for myself starting today. Thanks for sharing! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_6_7.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZUxdm080YYUS)

I think all of us had the same topic. I try soooo very hard to write down everything that goes in this mouth. But when I'm cleaning up after a meal, and I have some food left in those pots....oh I hear them calling me ... "just one more little taste Linda. What can it hurt".
Today's topic really hit home. Expecially the part about the leftover fries on your kids plate......well, let's just say I'll really be filling up the garbage bag from now on. :p

I was surprised by how many people at my meeting snack all day. Didn't they think that it would add up??

My leader does this - she automatically adds 3 points to the TOP of her journal for BLT's...I never thought about it like that she said that it's taken right off the top!! Interesting!!

I am doing WW at Home, so I could use additional information. What are you supposed to do with the bag labeled "BLT"? Put in a note for each BLT?
I've never understood how to count the BLTs. Is that extra lick of p-nut butter half a point? What about tastes during cooking or when dviding up servings?
TIA.

I think we just have to not put anything into our mouths that is not planned as part of our day...
Those BLT's really do add up more than we realize!
I love my WW digital food scale, especially when I'm doing peanut butter.
I just lay my piece of bread on the scale, zero it out, and then weigh the portion of peanut butter rather than putting it into a TBS. - no mess! Just use your knife and that's all there is to clean up. The digital scale is so great for accuracy and by seeing the exact weight (in grams or ounces) of the food you are measuring, you are not tempted to try to make the portion larger like we all tend to do with measuring spoons!
Anyway, we just have to find what works for us individually!

Tomorrow is only going to be my 4th meeting, so I am definitely new at all this. But I have been handling this BLT thing a bit differently. And yes, I Do use a ziploc for this weird strategy.
When I eat something (a sandwich, a piece of cheese, a cookie, etc.)... sometimes in the middle of eating it, I lose my "instant appetite". In the past, I would just keep eating, even if I wasn't hungry anymore.
But now, even if I just have one more bite, I pop it into a ziploc and throw it into the fridge or freezer. I know that at some point in the day, I will want "just a little bite of something". And since I've already counted the whole item on my points, it's like a freebie that I had forgotten about.
Weird? Perhaps. But so far it's working.
11lbs down. 60.2 to go. Let's see how tomorrow's 4th weigh-in goes.....

What a great idea! I'm going to try your strategy this week.

This is a great topic, and I always thought the ziploc was for the things you usually popped in your mouth, to see how they added up (and to see how gross they were) I love your idea of saving your portion and having a freebie. Fantastic!

I remember a meeting years past that featured the BLT topic, and the WW Leader had taken a dish towel, and all week, if she was about to have a BLT, she would instead wipe it onto the dish towel, it was really yucky, and an eye opener! Luckily she brought it in sealed in a clear plastic bag...
Maybe the ziplock you were given was so that you could place your own BLT's in it instead of in your mouth... ?
