:help: We are taking my Mom out for a belated Mother's Day this weekend and she wants Mexican food. The restaurant is local to Austin so not sure I can get nutritional information. What are good Mexican Food restaurant choices? Does anyone know if there are baked tortilla chips? If so I figured I would bring a serving of those to sneak while everyone else was chips and salsaing it. Any more suggestions?

Definitely sneak in your own baked chips!!! They will not have them, and it is SOOOOO hard to not eat the chips and salsa!!!!!

They usually with offer some sort of big salad with grilled chicken on it, maybe with some beans and corn in it. Just be sure to ask about ALL of their dressings, as the one they normally pair with a salad may not be a point friendly one, like some chipotle ranch. But they may have a jalapeño or sun dried tomato vinaigrette that you can have on it instead. Also…avoid the tortilla strips on the salad! Chicken or veggie fajitas are a good choice as well.

Good luck, and have fun!!

From my "Complete Food Companion", I can give you point values. It'll take too long for me to type them all out, so let me know what sort of food you like and I'll give you values. Please email to gingerofthenorth at hotmail dot com if you'd like them.

I like to bring my own chips, AND my own sour cream. Sometimes I even go as far as bringing my own shredded cheese! (maybe I should just eat at home!) then I get chicken fajitas, with corn tortillas instead of flour. Still really yummy!! GL!!!!

If you dont want to sneak in the baked chips, you could ask your server to bring you unfried tortillas.

Good luck!
