Hey, Buddies
A quick thought here. I have been posting on the few to lose board the last two weeks, as well as here. Monday (Dec.1st) I am starting a new thread there- everyday posting a conscious choice I made to stay OP and work hard toward goal. More than just sticking to points, etc. Things I chose to do each particular day to move more, or use points for something healthier.etc. The more we can build each other up, the better, I think- especially during the holidays when choices sometimes become hazy, and a little of something sometimes turns into more than we anticipated.
It would be a thread for POSITIVE things only-ideas that may help a fellow buddy when faced with a similar situation.
I'd be happy to post here what I post there if anyone is interested in trying this for the month. I know we do it often within our daily posts-but maybe a thread exclusively for this would be good- a kind of handy reference for the holiday season !
Let me know what you think !
Have a great one, buddies

Sounds good Bridget! Why not post the same thing here that you post over there? Maybe we could either join your specific challenge for the day or contribute our OWN?

I'm in - I want to focus on my last few pounds.
Today I went to an art opening and chose not to eat from the food table and moved myself away.
I chose not to go to the drive through for my tea to avoid any last minute temptations of unnecessary food.
I chose to eat an extra serving of vegetables instead of the more calorie dense main meal so I could get in my full 5 servings of F/V and also added a tsp of oil to get the second of my oils.
I chose to go for a 30 minute walk late this afternoon instead if sitting in front of the computer.

Sounds like a great idea. Count me in Bridget.

Good for you Soda! One thing I noticed today, as I attempted to count points for the first time in AGES, is that I don't eat as many 0 point veggies as I would if I were doing flex. That is a goal I could set for myself...when we start doing this challenge!:bcb_wink3 Today I had at least two cups of 0 point veggies...doing core it is easy to slide into eating the more calorie dense foods from the core food list...

Everyone feel free to contribute anything you did each day to stay OP, that maybe you had not planned on ahead of time, or was a hard choice,etc... Anything we can write to help each other out would be AWESOME !!!!!

I Iike the POSITIVE-ONLY aspect! :bcb_grin
You know how they have "Men Only"-posts (MO) on the Men's Forum?
This could be "PO"! Positive Only~
Here's something positive about my efforts:
I read (while standing at Border's) more on The Blue Zones (four places in the world where people live the longest). Read about this little old lady (103) who grows her own vegetables to put in her little cup of soup each day, for lunch and dinner. (At dinner she adds a salad and some rice...occasionally some fish if she's lucky).
That got me all excited. :bcb_grin
I bought some yellow miso (remember when Linda bought her miso-paste?). I sauted some little tofu cubes in olive oil. Added some baby bok choy, kale chiffonade (:bcb_huh:...1/16th-1/8th" strips), and small-dice carrots and my first daikon radish e-ver. It is mild and delicious...I shouldn't have waited 60-years to eat some...!
Had it in my hari-hachi-bu small white bowl. I said "Hara hachi bu" OUT LOUD! :bcb_happy
And that bowl of miso soup was sooooooooooo good! They also had red miso paste (aged 1 year) and barley miso paste (aged 1 1/2 years). I'm going to try them all! :bcb_bigsm In the refrigerator section, with the health foods.
Next day I found the white porcelain spoons for miso soup. And I got a sushi box-press! :bcb_grin Now I need some seaweed!...
I'm having fun, and plan to make the soup often. :salut
Love your signature, GrandmaL! "Can't means won't, and won't isn't an option"! Never say WON'T! LOL!

Yes, Carol- we have to stay positive. I was thinking "Positive Only On Program" but didn't care for the acronym...:bcb_grin
I was also thinking that all this post should contain is OP victories-not really personals or anything else- save the daily for that.
You all agree??

I agree. :salut
How about all you other, Buddies?...:bcb_bigsm
Another positive on the miso soup: it's got protein (tofu and miso); lotsa' vegetables; and the liquid is very filling and the hot soup is comforting. :salut :bcb_smile

Carol, I love hearing this blue zones stuff!!! And your adventures in putting it into practice!!!
And the idea of you, me, anyone saying "hara hachi bu" out loud, before eating, just makes me SMILE :bcb_smile!
I definitely am going to be buying and EATING more zero point veggies, including, in SOUP!

My DD decided that she wanted Mom's home cooking, so I made Turkey and all the trimmings and fixed it using only program friendly foods--except the apple pie.....
When she leaves with her family, the pie is going with her!! I have plenty of low points pumpkin pie and think of the lovely leftovers!!
It's strange and wonderful how you can stay OP even when feeding others!! I love this program!!

Today I chose to really focus on letting myself get hungry before eating.
I chose to focus on my daily 30 minutes of activity and went for a walk.
I chose to visualize myself losing weight and weighing in at goal.
I chose to eat a protein packed snack before grocery shopping.
I chose to eat all my Healthy 8.
I chose to not eat my WPA's for this week as an experiment. I have never done that in almost 5 years of WW. I need to try to do things differently to see what it feels like.
It wasn't hard. :salut

Today I....
went for a 30 minute walk with Dh & kids
bought LOTS of fruits & veggies
made a fantastic core dinner for us all to enjoy!
made a core dessert - need to stay away from the frozen yoghurt!
visualised how great I am going to look on Christmas day with my healthier body!

Today I chose to bring Core dishes to the covered dish lunch after church. I will make a way to make sure that I stay OP.

Today I congratulated myself every time I did not bite, lick or taste food that was not part of my food.
Today I chose to shovel snow for activity.

We got 3" of new snow overnight so I fired up Leslie Sansone's One Mile walk, and if it's too cold and snowy for walking outside, I'll do that....
In other words, today I came up with a "Plan B" instead of an excuse to not be active!! I like her positive approach to fitness, and it does get your heart pumping!! :bcb_march
