Good Morning Buddies!

Guess what? Last night, after a day of crazy-cleaning-cooking frenzy, looking like I'd been dragged through the mud, my sister walked in the door!! She and her kids came to surprise me! Oh boy, did she! :bcb_bigsm They live in Maine and I had no idea they were coming! It was such a great surprise, I haven't seen them since the summer. Now, I really wish I wasn't working today bcb_sad, but we'll catch up in the next few days. I truely have so much to be thankful for, my family, friends, a job I love, BCB, and so much more!! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy good food and love. See ya later Buds! :salut

Happy US Thanksgiving buddies!

I'm off early to the gym this morning to run 6 miles and then stretch it out at yoga. The kids have a dress rehearsal this afternoon for the Christmas pageant this weekend. I have to do some grocery shopping after I drop them off and then perhaps DH & I will make it to hot yoga tonight if he's feeling up to it!!

Have a great OP day everybuddy!! :salut

Linda- How wonderful your sister came to be with you on Thanksgiving!

Becky- Happy Thursday!! :bcb_grin

Linda -- that's a great surprise! I did that once to my parents, coming home to visit from Belgium. I wouldn't dare try that now -- one of them might have a heart attack!

Becky -- no Thanksgiving for us, either. I always see it as a big family holiday, and being so far from family, it just isn't the same. And since we're vegetarians, the typical dinner holds little appeal. Since our son goes to the Belgian school, it's just another day for us.

Kimberley -- the yoga was... eh. The podcast I had found, which I think truly is a great program, just didn't work for my level (ie. just a little experience some years ago). I thought it was a video podcast, but turned out to be just audio, and I really need to see what I'm supposed to be doing at this point. I cut it off after about 5 minutes and popped in one of my pregnancy yoga dvds (lol!). Better than nothing, since I purposely got up at 5:30 to do it. I've done a little research online and found a few other options I'm going to try out. Any suggestions?

Lynn -- glad to hear you enjoyed your European vacation! It can be difficult to eat Core here, especially to eat OUT. I know the language pretty well, so I can read the labels and find the lf/ff options, but there aren't nearly the array of products here that you find in the states. It's a challenge!

Well, I wasn't perfect yesterday, but I'm pleased with my progress. And today I'm doing well. I did a pretty low-intensity yoga this AM, followed up by a brisk 55 minute walk after lunch. While I was walking I listened to a couple weight loss/get fit podcasts. Ironically, the subject of both was more or less the same: changing the way you THINK. For example, stop the negative self-talk, replace it with positive thoughts. Instead of thinking "I'm too tired to get in a workout," thinking "I always feel so energetic when I finish a workout." Instead of thinking "I sure could use a glass of wine to relax with tonight," thinking "there's nothing more relaxing than a good cup of herbal tea." Kind of hokey, new-agey, but they made some good points. All too often I let negative thoughts enter my head and I don't cut them off. I kind of nurse them along until I give into them. This idea of "replacing" the negative thoughts may be key for me.

DS#1 wants me to come cuddle with him, and how can I resist. He's nearly 5, and I have no doubt that soon enough he won't want to sit on my lap and have a cuddle anymore. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you celebrating the holidays! Stay OP!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

My ddog's dont realize the days that we can sleep in vs the days we have to be up and going early...they got me up at 4:30 today. I dont have to start cooking until 9ish to have things ready by noon...so really not in a great hurry thismorning.

Hope everyone has a great day and if you are traveling, please be safe.

Kay- I don't have a lot of experience with yoga DVD's. Check out the link on the Exercise board for the TotalFitnessDVD Thanksgiving sale. There are a ton of yoga DVDs there. I've got the Kali Ray yoga system but haven't done it much since I joined the gym last spring (around the same time as I bought the DVDs!! :bcb_blush ). I'm a fairly visual person so I can keep my eyes closed and follow the cues in yoga class if the teacher is doing the same kind of things week in and week out. But whenever a new variation is brought up, I have to look and even have to see it done for some poses that *are* done weekly as it just doesn't sink into my brain to have you tell me, I have to be shown! I've heard good things about Rodney Yee but he's a master yoga instructor so that might be a touch difficult!

You might want to do some online research about different kinds of yoga and find something that appeals to you. I do a variety of yoga techniques. I like Kundalini Yoga for the breath work, spinal flexes and "crea" which is a series of healing/detoxing stretches. I like doing hot yoga to release toxins, relax more and get deeper into the stretches. I like power yoga for the strength building postures. I also like more stretchy kinds of yoga so I can go after I've been running or biking and get a really good stretch!

I turned on my oven for the FIRST TIME today! :bcb_grin LOL!

Probably should've done that before Thanksgiving day...:bcb_up But it works. In fact, I was able to figure-it-out without getting out a MANUAL! :bcb_up

Linda. I can't imagine a better surprise! :buddysmoo:

MAKE IT GREAT, Buddies.

Love Ya'!

Kimberley -- thanks for the advice. I've looked at a lot of different information online -- in fact, I'm considering ordering a DVD of Kundalini yoga, but want to try out a few free sources first. There are a few courses at our local gym, and when I can arrange childcare I will check them out, but at the moment I'm on my own.

Carol -- glad to hear that the stove works! Have a great holiday.

Checking in late as usual, sounds like everybuddy had a great day! Well DH did NOT get things done as he intended today on the bathroom project and believe it or not we had NO RUNNING WATER all THROUGH our Tgiving feast!!!:bcb_down My disabled mom arrived and just getting to my first floor means coming up a full flight of steps and then she asked if she could use the 1st floor bathroom and I had to say NO, you have to go UPSTAIRS! Where, of course, there STILL was no water. Making Tgiving dinner with NO water was a bit of a challenge but worked out okay. I had put some water in containers before DH turned off the water, having seen this happen before..."oh it'll be off for about an hour", and 24 hours later!!!!

Actually my day started at about 6am when I awoke and got the turkey all ready, put it in the preheated oven and then took it back out because I realized it would be done TOO SOON! Then when I went to go biking I realized I had a flat front tire, which took me forever to change...then we realized the vanity we picked out for the first floor bath is kinda too big but too late, it is OURS, having put holes in it for the pipes already. DH was having ALL kinds of troubles and I was behind schedule trying to get the house more or less in order as there is stuff from this BR project and OTHER projects lying all around...

Luckily my parents will think my house looks great no matter what. I did not manage to rid the house of ALL the dust from the construction...but I did get SOME things clean. I also just carted a bunch of things to our walk in closet to get them out of the way, but there was still all sorts of construction stuff around, but you know what? We had a blast! Dinner was almost TOTALLY core and my parents really enjoyed it. It was a fun, relatively short visit with them, they just come down for the day...

Oh, almost forgot to mention that the lack of water meant NO SHOWERS!!!!! After my 16.3 mile bike ride this morning!!! I took pictures but there are none of ME!

I can't believe how easily Thanksgiving is made core and how GOOD it is! I earned 5APs today (at least, my HRM got a little funky on my ride today at times), and I was looking around the table thinking, there isn't anything NOT core to use them on!!:bcb_wink3

My stuffing made with COW bread was great!! I highly recommend that. Old fashioned bread stuffing that is CORE!

Alright, enough from me! Sounds like everyone's doing great! Having some family time is something to truly be thankful for!:salut
