I made this soup and it was very good. I did have a problem with my family. I mashed the veggies up after they cooked and my son said the soup looked like vomit, so none of the kids ate it. Did I do something wrong?

    Hi Cheryl,

I like to put mine in the blender til it's nice and smooth. It will still be a weird color, but minus the lumps.

    It is yummy.

Yuuuummmmmm!!!! This is really good. I made the version with the Rotel Tomatoes & Green Chilis in it. It gave it a little kick. I love it.

Not sure what chicken granules are? Who makes them and what are they?

I just made a big pot of this soup and it's SO good! I am having it with a 3pt chicken sandwich tonight and it's a very satisfying meal!

Chicken granules are chicken boillion in it's powdered form. You can also use boiullion cubes- each one is equal to one tsp. You'll find them made by various companies in the soup aisle- next to the powdered "cup of soup" and other similar items.

I have made this soup in the past. I can't remember if I have ever frozen any of it, but it does last for while in the fridge. And, it does taste good.
I can't see why you wouldn't be able to freeze it for a while. Maybe not for a year or two, but I know in my house it would not last that long. We would get it eaten in just a few weeks.

I've been making this same soup for years as well. I do use low sodium chicken broth (a staple in my pantry) instead of water. It makes a huge batch, so I do freeze a lot of it. I use zipper baggies for e/thing. It's easy to portion out 2 cups and freeze in one bag. Just double check it's closed and lie flat. Thaw on defrost or in hot sink water...easy!

    oh my i love soup!

i dont have the exact ingredients, and am a vegetarian,, so would this be roughly the same thing..

a bag of frozen vegetables , pre cut--> cabbage, brocoli, carrots

and fat free kraft singles cheese slices?

    is this okay??

one cheese slice is 1 point, so doi just add enough water to make 12 servings, and therefore 12 cheese slices?:S confused.

and there was someone earlier who posted a 1 point blt sandwich.

they used mayo, and cheese, and bread. which part of it was 1 point, how did you manage to get 0 ponts for the rst?

I've frozen it many times and thought it came out fine. I usually freeze some individual servings to take to work and a couple of multi-cup servings to thaw for the fam to have along with a sandwich or salad.

    Default 1 Point BLT

I found this on the first page of this thread.

    1 point BLT:

    2 slices light bread, toasted
    1 tbs. fat free mayo
    1 tbs. immatation bacon bits
    lettuce
    tomato slices

Spread 1 slice of toast with mayo, sprinkle bacon bits on top. Layer on lettuce & tomato slices, top with remaining piece of toast.

Sounds good, but will this not work with fresh vegetables? No one has said anything...

Been making this for years w/slight variation.....I add both Rotel AND canned roasted tomatoes to the pot as well as a large clove of finely grated garlic. Use my immersion blender when the veg are cooked, leaving enough good chunks to make it satisfying. It freezes fine. In the summer we eat it cold and love it.
    Enjoy!

Errr....Is Velveeta 2% the same as Velveeta Light? That's the best I could find at my grocery store.

This is my new favorite soup. I made it with cheese whiz light since I couldn't find the velvetta light where I live. Sooo good!

LOVE this soup!! Made a double batch last weekend and froze some portions out for lunches. Just had a bowl for lunch and it thawed out wonderfully and tasted just as good as the day I made it!
