    Default I need a one-liner...

Those short, snappy things you say to yourself really help me... I need a quick reply for when I am telling myself, "Just this once..." or "You deserve a treat today..." Any favorites I can use? TIA

"The last bite tastes the same as the first"

(personally, I think no bite ever tastes as good as the first; after that it's just "chasing the dragon." I use this to stop at small portions of high points foods.)

"Better to go to waste than to go to waist"

A trick I use a lot is to tell myself I can have the food if I count it then I mentally list all the foods I could have for the same amount of points and decide if it's really worth it. For instance for a 16 point Blizzard, I'll think I could have a Clif bar (4 pts,) a bowl of oatmeal (4 pts with my additions,) a bag of 1 point popcorn, lt ice cream (2-3 points,) a bocca burger on lt bread with 2% cheese (3 points) a vita muffin (1 pt) By the time I think up a whole list of foods DQ is long gone!

I should add that this is one of my favorites. I used a variation of this "Nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels" when I was actively losing.

I love that one, too, and have used it in my self-talk.

    FROM CW:

Americans are digging their own graves with knives, forks and spoons.

That's a variation of one I learned at WW meeting" "I choose not to dig my own grave with a fork".

Also, "Is what I want right now worth putting off my long term goal?"

I love this one as well, already posted: If Hunger is Not the Problem, then Eating is Not the Answer! That one's on my fridge!

How will I feel about this decision tomorrow?

It's easier to say 'no' once in the store, than 'no' twenty times at home.

Thanks, Joanne! I could not remember the original phrase-that says it much better! It's going on my fridge as well!

My favorite that I think about all the time...."Fake it till you make it." Just pretend that you are already at goal and eat as you would then. Imagine yourself with a ton of self-control. Keep your head high, exercise and just keep faking it until it becomes second nature!

I love "Fake it till you make it" That's been part of many a therapeutic intervention of mine over the years (though never related to weight loss, thanks for the idea...)
